Pick Peaks Tool

The Pick Peaks tool enables you to find both positive and negative peaks when the data do not seem to have a definable baseline. This type of situation can occur when the peaks appear to follow or overlap each other without intervening flat regions. The method of peak picking used for this tool does not rely on the smoothness of the data and is, therefore, somewhat more robust than the Baseline tool.

Origin's Pick Peaks Tool

The Pick Peaks Tool

This tool finds positive and/or negative peaks using a search rectangle. Origin first determines the current local maximum value (within the search rectangle). It then takes the difference between this maximum value and the data values at both ends of the rectangle. If the result is no less than the rectangle height, a peak has been found.

Noise can be eliminated from consideration during peak picking by adjusting the Minimum Height percentage value.

Additionally, center markers and peaks labels can be added to your graph by selecting the appropriate check box in the Display Options group.
